Default UK Gun Owner's Petition for the 2012 Olympics.

I have been asked to post this for TACfoley... I completely understand his anguish and feelings in this matter...

messages follow:====================

Dear All, specially John Sabato - please take note of this response to a petition signed by over 1/4 million honest, law-abiding citizens of the UK. The cynical answer tells you all you need to know about the prersent and past government of the UK.

please tell your friends, and John - please post it for me on lugerforums, if you care to.

To say that I'm disgusted does not do the word justice - we are STILL being treated as a danger to the public, and where, pray, will these potential medal winners come from? Where will the officials for the shooting sport competiutions come from?

Many questions that wll never be answered, including the one where a new shooting sports centre is going to be built at Woolwich for £20M ,and then demolished at a cost of £12M.

makes REAL sense, eh?

You signed a petition asking the Prime Minister to "Change the law to
permit our target pistol shooters to prepare properly for international and
Olympic competitions."

The Prime Minister's Office has responded to that petition and you can view
it here:

1984 arrived late in GB, but in full force.

BTW guys, lest you think this is not happening here (USA) right under our noses, let me point out to you that for the first time in our history, the Republican party is attempting to slip not one, but three trojan horses past us.

Research it for yourself rather than believe me, but you will find that ALL THREE of the top-tier, media endorsed, pre-selected in the back room, Republican candidates are anti-gun candidates: Giuliani (rabidly anti-gun, wants no one to have any except of course government thugs), Romney (Hillary style anti-gun, check his record!) and finally McCain (you ought to be ashamed of yourself, back-door anti-gun, again, check that voting record; he even sponsored one I believe).

Except for Ron Paul the other Republicans are paying lip service but don't actually give a damn and will no doubt fold in a stiff breeze.

The deck is sure stacked this time around. Thank God the NRA is sounding the alarm, huh!? Oh wait, they haven't said a word! How strange!!!

It may be premature to "sound the alarm" now, since we still do not know who will actually be nominated. In the past, the NRA has always provided the membership with accurate information well in advance of the election. This information includes recommendations on how to vote in the primaries. I receive "junk mail" from other organizations who represent themselves as being active in the support of citizens' rights under the Second Amendment; however, I have yet to be made aware of anything these other organizations are actually accomplishing, other than to ask for donations. The NRA is actually doing a lot to protect or Second Amendment rights, and the politicians know the NRA has influence at the polls too. I am always suspicious of any politician who will not respond to an inquiry from the NRA.

Mauser720,

Once you know who will be nominated it is too late to sound the alarm! What are we going to do, vote for Hillary instead??? The idea is to find out who the anti-gun people are BEFORE there is a chance they will be nominated. Millions of gun owners are being led down the garden path by a now deceitful republican party and a silent NRA.

Thompson is probably the lesser "anti gun" than any of the other viable Republican candidates. If it comes down to voting for an anti gun Republican or Democrat, however, I will still go with the Republican!

Well, the NRA has an Email notification system on all political issues, and I receive several of these notifications every week or so. Prior to any primary, I always recieve all kinds of information about the candidates various positions on what the Second Amendment really means, etc. All this information is free for the asking. If you go to this web site address, you can see what the NRA is doing right now: http://www.nra.com/

This is an extremely interesting service and only one of several the NRA provides. I would encourage everyone to check it out.

I do not think it is accurate to say that the NRA is "silent."

For example, here is one of the items that the President of the NRA has posted just this morning. You will note he is not that pleased with any of the candidates:

12/7/2007

I've already asked presidential candidate Barack Obama some questions about what the Second Amendment means to him. But other candidates have also expressed vocal support for the Second Amendment while going after American gun owners.

Hillary Clinton, for example, told the Des Moines Register, "I support the Second Amendment. Law-abiding citizens should be able to own guns... but I also believe strongly in smart laws that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists."

Now, I could spend hours asking Hillary about her position on the Second Amendment and her treatment of gun owners, but this is a blog, not a novel. So here are a couple of follow-up questions.

Hillary, do you think the law-abiding citizens of Washington, D.C., have an individual right to own guns in their own homes for their own protection?

Hillary, do you think the D.C. gun ban is a "smart law,?"

Hillary, do you think your husband's gun ban, which lasted a decade and banned thousands of firearms based on purely cosmetic features, is another one of those "smart laws?"

Hillary, so you agree with the position of your husband's administration that the second amendment is only a government right, not and individual right and there's absolutely nothing to prevent the government from confiscating all citizens firearms?

The days of political candidates being able to duck and run on the Second Amendment issue are over. It's time to find out what their real positions are, and I challenge every reporter who has access to Hillary to pose these questions to her.
