Honalulu Dealer
Not sure if this is the right section, if not please move.
I find myself with a bit of a problem. I was having some pistols shipped from Canada to Australia. I had all the proper paperwork for both ends. We were told by Aircanada that the pistols would go direct from Canada to Oz. But some Bozo decided to put the package on the Vancouver to Hawaii flight, rather than the Van Couver to Sydney flight. No idea why. Of course the customs people in Hawaii siezed them as they had no permits to transit the US. I am now in the process of trying to recover them. Hopefully all will work out and I will get the required permits from the Dept of State, at some time, and customs doesn't destroy them meanwhile. Aircanada admitted the mistake, but said it's my problem now. This will leave me with the problem of transporting the pistols on from Honalulu to Oz after they are reliesed. I don't want to deal with any airlines. I was hopeing to find a dealer there that would pick them up from Customs and mail them in to me. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks,.......Chip |

Chip, the best I can do is tell you to get on the Internet and do a search for import/export firms in Hawaii and contact them and find out if they will deal in firearms shipments...
Hopefully Customs in Hawaii will see the facts surrounding this incident and realize that no laws were intentionally violated. Let us know what you find out and if and when you resolve the situation. It may help some other member in the future.

Chip, I would urge you to contact the HRA (Hawaiian Rifle Assoc) for their assistance or recommendation of a member firm or lawyer to assist. They are a great group of guys. I will send their email address as soon as I can locate it. TH

Thanks for the help gentleman.
I looked up the Hawaii rifle association on the net. The only number/email in the contact section was for the co-chair of womens isuues. I have been called a bit bit of a girl on some things, but i don't think this is the right person. I'll try giving the main switch board??? a call if I can find it in the phone book. I have to keep up the pressure as there is a lot to loose, a P-38 AC42 with matching mags, a first variation Vis 35, and a Mauser HSC with marine stampings. All in top condition and with the proper holsters. I must admit that the Border control people have been reasonable. They appreciate that the problem is not of my doing, and hopefully they will be patient. Thanks again........Chip |

Just an udate. It looks as though the Dept of State export permit is in place. I found a gun dealer in Honolulu who is willing to pick up the pistols and mail them on. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row, with all parties to make this happen. Waiting on confirmation from Customs, as far as what id required. I am in a better frame of mind. This has been going on since the end of November. Wish me luck.........Chip

Sounds like the bureaucratic wheels are turning in the right direction for a change, albeit slowly. Keep us posted. The resolution to your problem may help another member in the future.
