Unit marked 1910
Guys,
I purchased a DWM 1910 today on the Rock Island Auction. No decent pictures yet, but they did provide the unit mark; 14.U.1.15. Can anyone provide information as to the meaning of this unit mark. Thanks, Mike |

George, your ID would seem to indicate a flying unit...Rather than cavalry...Is that correct??? Or did the Uhlans have their own esoteric military designations???

A company level unit in the cavalry, including ours, is a squadron. In German, Eskadron.

A cavalry company is a Troop, a cavalry battalion is a Squadron.

For some reason any Uhlan marked weapon has been elusive for me to find. But I did manage to find a 1912 Erfurt and a 84/98 bayonet unit marked to the 15. U.
