Good Place to Start??
Found a luger I am very interested in but he didnt give me a lots of information. Said it is #'s matching and has a chamber date of 1911. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

What you are buying would all depend on the price. From the condition of the grips it could very well be an original finish. Are there "halos" around the serial numbers on the barrel? Much more detailed photos of the markings would be required to make a determination as to whether the gun is richeous or not.

That has to be refinished. I didnt know they made commercials with chamber dates. (1920 and 1923 commercials) If its numbers matching and refinished it really doesnt have collector value but numbers matching is a plus for sure but most collectors are into the war stuff anyway Im told. I probably woudnt pay more then 550 for a commercial 30 luger again, but Im kind of jaded on that flavor of luger so disregard my price ranges Im currently trying to sell mine to buy a beretta 92 fs because a box of 50 rnds is about 36 bucks shipped cheapest I can find for 30 luger. . If its original that thing is mint and I woudnt begin to guess what its worth. Get some low glare pics of the serial under the barrel or even posting the serial with any letter suffixes would be cool and check to see if there are kind of light glows around the numbers wich is usually an indication the barrel or whatever part the "halos" are found on that the finish is original. the barrel looks darker then the rest too

I don't think this is a commercial gun. If it has a 1910 Chamber date, it is military. You can just see the added holdopen device pin on the side. These early guns were not numbered externaly like the later offerings. Without further info this looks like a correct, early military gun with original finish.
We still don't know the asking price!!! |
