Default 189? Mauser question.

So I'm nearing the end with my Luger and am looking toward the 189? Mauser I have that was rechambered as a 30.06 in 1952 in S.America. The finish is the black paint they used back in 52 when it was redone however the crest was not ground off of the receiver and have been told where it's not a collector grade rifle its still a great shooter and still has the original 189? sights. So I was thinking I'd replace the sporter style stock with a military style one and found this and wonder if it's the right one I need or if it can be made to work? http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=1...000003_d_10902

I'm also leaning towards the pre stained one for a bit more what do you all think?

I saw that it was listed for an M1 but in the listing it also says it fits the 18 something or another Mauser's thats why I asked. But that is the style stock I'm looking for so if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to post them up.
Thanks for the help guys.

As for the stock thats on it now I just don't like it at all I think its gaudy and want to give it more of its prior military look and feel. This rifle has been valued at $150 - $200 and I was told its not a collector piece but it is a great shooter (much like my Luger).

Your rifle was remanufactured in Colombia in 1952 by R. Famage. It looks like a 1950 FN mauser rifle, sold to the Colombian military, based on the receiver crest.

Here is a cross check source you can use to better establish the model type.

With these resources you should be able to locate a surplus military stock, but honestly, with that highbuff/gloss metal finish, it will never truly look right.

(P.S., your Brownells link is not complete, as it sends you to an error page).

Wow man thanks! They have exactly what I'm looking for. As for the finish it is the corret re-done painted finish but I plan to re-do the barrel as it has MANY nicks and chips in the paint. I'm leaning towards having it powered coated flat black from a local gun smith but we'll see once I get my parts. I'm not gonna start on it till my Luger is finished so it may be awhile.
