WTB Kreighoff Luger
Gentlemen I am in the market to buy a wartime dated Kreighoff luger ( 1940-1944) Must be matching with at least one mag. No reworks or reblues please. It should be able to stand up to the Kreighoff Parabellum book stats.Thank you in advance and have a great holiday. Regards Dave Gill

Sheer numbers are working to make your goal very difficult. You want an HK built between 1940-1944.. Let's look at the numbers. The initial contract was for 10,000 P.08s. They were built between 1935 and 1937 with a few in 1938. In 1940, they restarted military production and between 1940 and 1944, about 2000 more pieces, at the most were delivered. So your target market is only 2000, basically two times the number of 1900 USA Test pieces which are one of the most scarce of Lugers. Even if you could find a nice example, it will cost a pretty penny. And, it's unlikely any collector would have a duplicate specimen from which he would part. If you want a nice HK at perhaps a more acceptable price, I would suggest that you focus on 1936 and 1937 examples. Many more were build in these two years than the others put together. But always remember, the entire HK production over its entire history represented about ONE MONTH of Mauser's production in its hey day. In total Mauser built about 2 MILLION Lugers to HK's 12-13,000. Just a little perspective. John |

I estimate a survival rate of 10%.That is only 200. Of the 200 probably half are not original for one reason or another. That leaves 100.
In addition you would like a matching mag. It is not easy. Bob |

This web page has sold a few lugers the years you are wanting, but none right now. But this sight has some beautiful Kriegoffs for sale that are early models in the year frame around the late 1930's. But you can check out his recently sold kriegoffs that are in your time range for the years. Good Luck! |

Guys I am aware its a tight margine. I already have a "36" date and a 1937 both are really nice pieces but have always wanted one of those late date pieces. Used to see them at the shows years ago,but only rarely these days. Since it will be a one time purchase for me it has to be what I m a wantin.LOL Just keep me in mind, if you run across one for sale. Regards Dave
