K block 1939 S/42 questions?
I bought this 1939 S/42 Serial # 5X28 K block missing the locking bolt and sideplate. I wanted to at least get it shootable so I bought a locking bolt and a repro sideplate assembly. The locking bolt is unmarked but matches the pistol's finish perfectly. It doesn't look like a repro part. Seller said it wasn't a repro part, said his dad had a bunch of Luger parts he was selling off. Did they ever have unmarked locking bolts? I didn't pay a bunch for it since I knew I'd want to find a matching one later. Sadly...this pistol is otherwise all stamped matching except magazine which is period correct. Left grip panel has a big chunk missing right by the mag release button.....sickoning to me when I saw the mag marked correctly to the serial. The chunk is even aged like it's been missing a long time. I'd rate the finish about 80% and all colors and numbers appear correct to me and internally all matched too. I paid $550 so even with repro parts I have less than $700 in it as a shooter. Hoping to come across parts as I go. Not in a hurry to pay outrageous prices though.
Only pics I have currently are on my phone...working on downloading now. Last edited by buymore; 01-16-2013 at 07:23 PM. Reason: added pics |

Tom Heller (lugerdoc) stocks many Luger parts.
Get in touch with him with your specific needs. Marc

I did already...he only has repro parts...doesn't have the stamped numbered parts I need....thanks. Just wanted to know is the unstamped part I have possibly an original part or most likely a repro? It looks too much like the original finish on my gun to be repro.
also....am I right that this is a "K" block or what is that prefix? I tried comparing to several charts and I'm not sure? Last edited by buymore; 01-16-2013 at 07:42 PM. Reason: added more questions |

If you are talking about the small letter under the serial number, it is a suffix (comes after the serial number) and it is the letter "p".

Check the for sale section here. Forum member DZ has had quite a pile of side plates, and adds and subtracts as they come and go.
