Default P-08 stamped N.Z. New Zealand?

Two weeks ago I came in to p-08 w/ holster, 2 mags and no tool.
The Luger is a byf, 41.W/ wood gripes. W/ wuffen stamps #655. The holster has a name in side the flap, SQ/L. K.F. Vare. RNZAF.
SQ/L. Vare, was KIA over Berlin Jan.1or2,1944 in a Lancaster with his hole crew (Hero's All R.I.P.) He also served in the Mediterranean, No.Africa, flying Wellingtons and Far East flying Liberators.
During my research I found the New Zealand arms Register, web site. Yes the RNZAF did issued Officers of Aerodromes,WWI and WWII Lugers.
My question is did they stamp the back of handle N.Z. For New Zealand? Also the number 83 appears stamped under the N.Z. It doesn't match any other numbers on the gun.
Just as soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will, in the next few days!! Thanks, Rick.

Thank you, Ed for looking at my post.
What I have found, I spent a lot of time researching on the web and some monetary outlay to get SQ/L.Vare, service record form the UK. At www.forces-war-records.co.uk. All I did was google his name and got 6 or 8 hits. Ed if you like to see a picture of SQ/L.K.F.Vare, go to Flickr.com (Image Ref: A06376P) He will be sitting
With his crew in front a Wellington bomber. Ed looks like I will be buying your book, looks likes a good one!
Thanks, Rick.

I found on (just answer. Firearms) Customer question, submitted 726 days ago. I am looking at a Luger 42 date that appears to have matching all over. But the frame has N Z stamped on it between the wooden grips. I have not been able N Z with the number 3 under N Z means?
(Just answer. Firearms Expert Bill) did not really know. (Firearms expert Tom308) I think he was headed in the right direction.(and I quote Tom308) I believe the NZ is for New Zealand and nothing else. The gun may have been in that country at one time. After 3.5 hours of research, it is all I can come up with. I know that Germany marked all of their handguns for each unit and where they stationed during WWII, but I couldn't find any NZ unit marks.
I thank TOM308 for his research. Now back to my research, I'v been in contact with an assistant curator at the RNZAF Air Museum, in Christchurch. They have LUGERS! In their collection. And he's going to look at them for me.

Last Sunday I got an email from Military Memorabilia Ltd. in Auckland New Zealand.www.milimem.com email [email protected] This is the email,(and I quote)I would like feed back please.
Hi Rick,
Nice to hear from you with details about your recent purchase.
Over the years,I have seen only one Luger and one P38 with New Zealand issue stamps.
It is my understanding that due to a shortage of weapons, these guns were officially issued to New Zealand troops(probably officers)
Serving in North Africa during 1941 and 1942.
I have no idea how many we're issued, but my guess would be no more then a hundred or so,if that.
I hope this information is some help to you.
Kind regards, Geoff. (Thank for looking Rick)

That is easier than trying to track down an album.
