Simson Lugers (no such thing as a Simpson luger) is a book that myself and Graham Johnson wrote, it has all the history.
Also, I believe the FAQ has info and also the history pages here on the luger. After WW1 Erfurt was closed down, DWM was denied making army, navy guns (although they still tried to). Simson was given the exclusive right to produce rifles, pistols and repair (among other things) and they first started repairing, probably right after the war, but got the exclusive contract in 1924 time frame, and the first Simson lugers were dated 1925 (about 600 made) then 100 dated 1926's (from my database) I have sn 701 in my collection. Another 11,000 were made (so less than Krieghoff's) Many, many refurbs received simson parts, so be careful when you buy a luger that has a simson toggle! Our book has all of that info
