ejector spring
I have a 1939 shooter, all matching parts that my dad got in the war. The ejector spring broke after a thousand rounds that I know about. I purchased 4 reproduction ejector springs and all have broken after 2 hundred rounds or less ... I have just purchased an other reproduction spring and I have found an origional.
They all break at the chamber end (front) I have installed all the replacement springs my self, with great difficulty, but once installed they seam fine. Is there some trick to the instalation ..like heating the spring ?? I simply hold the weapon in a vise and push from the rear with a blunt flat tip. Does anyone know why I am having this problem. Your thoughts please. Thanks Dan |

Re: ejector spring
My guess is your loads are TOO HOT or your main spring is TOO weak~ Thor

Re: ejector spring
I don't know why your breaking them. I can tell you an easier way to install and remove them unbroken. I have a piece of 1/2" walnut that I slide between the cannon rails. It easily pushes the ejector tip up and allows you to either pry the end for removal or tap with a plastic mallet for installation. If you have absolutly no clue as to what I'm tring to describe let me know and I'll take some pics.

Re: ejector spring
The reason I mentioned the loading is I broke a couple of ejectors by firing really hot loads in them, after I tamed down the loads the problems went away. Thor
