Default Are Pictures for this Thread still available?

An interesting thread but pictures seem to have vanished. Is it possible to get them back. Regards Grant

Default An Open Comment On Attaching Pictures

Ed, the moderator who responded, is showing unusual restraint in his reply...

I'm not that restrained...So, to anyone who persists in linking their PhotoBucket, SmugMug, TinyPic, Google or other offsite pictures, please attach your pictures to your post here on LugerForum!!! If you don't, they will be lost!!! These offsite picture collages routinely change their formats, locations, and/or access permissions. The pics will be lost forever, and no one will be able to view them in the future, for instance when they do a Search here, like the original poster did.

Furthermore...

Some of the best Luger minds are here, on this forum! They also work for large corporations, foundations, and government agencies who provide Internet access and computers and in return limit access to certain web sites or ISPs. They can't see offsite pictures because the firewall blocks them. That means they can't answer your questions. So we all lose.

To sum up...Attach your pictures to your post!!! There are several threads detailing how to do so!!!

My apologies to the original poster in this thread - It's too bad the guy [Heinz?] who had the pics didn't attach them. It looks like an interesting 'How-To'.

I know this subject is like trying to herd cats. I can look up the Forum today and see a dozen offsite linked requests for assistance. I can assure you that they will go unanswered by the people who are best qualified to respond. Because they can't see the pics!!!

Ed's comments aren't necessarily due to his restraint . The thread in question is 7 years old and the site software has been updated/revised at least a couple of times since then. Unfortunately, when that is done sometimes the format of internal links to the images are changed and the images go away. I have had to go back and edit some of my earlier threads to restore the images.

P.S. But your comments about posting the photos here rather than linking to an offsite source is exactly right.

And some members have passed on, as well.

ViggoG had a 89th birthday a couple weeks ago. I hadn't seen any of his posts (although I noticed his pic in the Rogues Gallery) and his profile shows 2007 as his last post...I sent him a PM wishing him a Happy Birthday...No response...

Point being that any offsite repository containing pictures can be deleted...My previous ISP deleted my account when they went corporate...
