Western Bullets
Does anyone know if Western Bullet is still in business? I read on these forums that they are a good place to get bullets from. However, they do not answer the phone or respond to emails. Thanks in advance for any information.

I guess I have to answer this myself. I finally got ahold of Western bullet and got some .93 grain lead for the .30 cal. Luger. It works well. See my comments about loading it in-- Reloading help for the .30 cal. (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 4)

Got a link for this yourself???
I'll do a Google Search for it, I guess... I'm starting to like lead bullets... Edit: i guess this is them - http://www.westernbullet.com/ I found one site warning against ordering from this company. Mis-labeled wrong-size bullets delivered; no response to calls or emails. Have you ordered cast bullets from them before??? Are they lubed???

This was the first time I ordered bullets from them. Very hard to get them on the phone, but they did finally answer. Says he can't hear the phone over the casting machines. He is the ONLY one that makes .93 grain lead bullets for the .30 cal. Luger. (the original load) and yes they are lubed. He does supply the lyman mold number with these. And they do seem to work well.

Interesting. Worth a try.
He must size them as well. The 311 in the Lyman mould number indicates the diameter as cast. Edit: Ah, yes - "Bullets are lubed and sized." http://www.westernbullet.com/ly3gr20.html

I have twice ordered these bullets from Western Bullet Company with no problems. If fact, they sent me 1100 if I would order 1K of them. I had no problem with that deal. They work very well in my 30cal lugers, as they have a generous bore from the factory. These bullets are sized and lubed, but still measure ~.310-.311 according to my calipers. They don't work real well in my Bar-Sto bbls in 30 Luger, as these bbls. are at or near SAMMI minimums for bore. They tend to lead a bit in these bbls. |
