The very small chip you refer to is probaly what is generally called the "million dollar chip" that is to say a little bit of he left grip panel behind the safety lever.

In my opinion half a line is not really enough to give you asufficiently exhaustive answer, the ideal would be to see some close and detailed pictures of that Luger, as I think 800,00 could be a bargain for a gun without a mag, or even to much.
IMHO

I'm confident it's not a reblue. Trying to get him down but doesn't seem going for 700. Might just take a chance. Not sure if I can get pics and if so sorta hard to upload them to this site from my iPhone

Frame is 3270 cursive n. The breach lock and the takedown plate numbered 18 rest of frame is 70 parts

Upper barrel is 3747 all parts matching to upper except for the mag lock which is numbered 70 to frame.

Haven't popped grips to see them. Only thing I see I need is the lug release pin you drive out from under trigger guard was broken and replaced with a pin so its left with half the original pin and bubba half new pin. I'll drive both out and not shoot till I locate that part cause the takedown is free moving not catching that pin at all.
Otherwise expect a decent shooter.

Got it for under 800 finally and picked up two mec mags for 80 flat. Quick web search seemed that's the going rate at merchants so avoided shipping.

Who's got the pin I need :-)

Tom Heller generally stocks them. It's a small "L" shaped pin with a portion milled out allowing it to flex. Many people break things because they don't know how to disassemble a Luger by first relieving the locking lug.

Scorpius ,
looks to me that you have a case of original upper on original lower asy, and likely not reblued
good that upper all matches more likely headspace will be ok
good that lower matches likely have ok fire control asy
good that both upper and lower are original near in time mfg

congrats ! - looks like an excellent shooter and probably easy to resell
and very reasonable price also !

you did homework well !

spring - lugerdoc likely has them - not often on ebay etc

thanks for sharing - exc pics for the location

Yes thanks for comments :-) I think it would be ok to fire as is with the spring issue but I'm going to play it safe and try to drive it out now that I'm home. Will be tearing it down for a dunk in the ultrasonic tank. Will get better outside pics once I get them clean and oiled if it's not dark.
Figured as much that all matching upper is probably worth a five spot or more if parting. Plus should be perfect on headspace and all.
It does fit tight into the slide and is strong on the spring motion.
Lower has that long trigger travel then very small area beyond that to click. Which seems normal to my other matching bringback.
I'll take pics when clean and look for the hive to tell me if anything else should be on my parts list.
