Luger holster in project condition
Got this holster with a Luger I just bought, it's a project for sure but still a Luger holster. I don't need it for anything, so my questions are:
How much is it worth as is? How much would it cost to restore? The closure strap and the lift strap are broken, one of the belt loops is missing, the hinge leather is dried out, the stitching needs to be redone in places and there's small, white spots all over it. It's marked "67" under the closure strap, and "Genshow & Co", a drooped wing eagle and "1936" on the back. |

Olle, This is not a strong candidate for restoration in my opinion. The main reason, there are three reasons..one is the hinge. The other is the amount of parts needing replacement. Third is the paint specs. These CAN be removed but often they have soaked in enough to remove surface leather when they are pried off. Still the hinge kills it for me. It could separate at any time. Then.. any work and $ put into it is lost.
What's it worth as is? It has very little that's salvegeable for other repair holster use. If I saw it on a gun show table I would offer $20.

Thanks Jerry, that confirms what I thought. Let's see if anybody on eBay is brave enough to tackle it.

Quick rundown..The closure strap $35 and the lift strap$40 are broken, one of the belt loops is missing,$40
1936 holsters are desirable. Without the hinge problem it might be worth it as the holster magazine pouch is good..the markings are good. Surface leather is marginal..It's just a judgement call. Not a holster I would restore for myself.
