Smile Artillery Luger Lighter

The older I get the more I find myself walking through antique shops. Recently, I came across this shinny artillery Luger lighter. I wanted it but simply could not justify the price, even if it could be bargained down some. Beside the price I am not sure what I would have done with it.

I took a couple of snap shots to share. What do you think of this item? Has anyone seen such a lighter before?

If you had a gun-related business and frequented a lot of gun shows (and exhibited there) and could use this as a display/tax write-off, then it might be worth it. Be kind of awkward to light a BBQ grill with it.

Edit: Is it pewter???

A couple of years ago these in various barrel lengths showed up on eBay fairly frequently, but I haven't seen any for a while.

If you pulled the trigger and the flame exited the end of the barrel it would be cool and useful.

Just now checked eBay...the identical lighter (sans stand) is for sale for $50.00. Just search for "Luger lighter"

I had one years ago. It was included in a pile of luger related items I bid for on ebay. It may be tucked in a box or drawer somewhere... If I find it, based on today's prices I would consider selling it now instead of throwing it away (which would be my first inclination )

That could get you riddled with bullet holes if you used it the wrong place.

Not a bad price for the novelty of it.
IMHO
