Default 1900 American Eagle

I'm pondering buying this pistol and would like opinions of the asking price of $2000. It is all matching numbers except the magazine which is a wood bottom Wiemar police stamped #2. The finish is worn in all the usual places and it is stamped 'Germany" on the frame front under the barrel. It has the 4.75 inch barrel. The bad part is that the toggle lock is broken off the frame. I know it is expensive to repair that. Similar pistols with no broken toggle latch are going for prices far higher. Do you think this would be a good shooter?
Thanks

Since the toggle lock was not "necessary", its missing on a shooter would not be a problem.

A 1900 looks cool for sure, but is not a really good choice for a steady shooter, parts are tough to find and expensive- should you need one- but extractors and mainsprings are available. The ejector is a little different too, and harder to find.

Without seeing the pistol you are thinking about- it is kind of hard to answer your question; but $2k is a lot for a shooter, I've seen them for under $1500. Bought the one I have for $750 total at auction- but it has been reblued.

Don's comments are spot-on. I can attest to his pricing comments based on my own recent search efforts - acquiring a mid-condition M1900 is on my shopping list and I have passed on several fully functional pistols under $2,000. The major issue with acquiring M1900s at good prices is that they are not as common as many later variants; it requires a bit more time and work to find them at favorable prices.
