Luger 1906/29
How is it possible to reduce to my Swiss Luger the trigger pull at about 3 pounds (1 kg.)? Thanks for any suggestions

Due to the design with multiple pieces and friction points, it is not practical to reduce the trigger pull below or to 3 lbs. JMHO.

If the gun is matching and unaltered, one may gain a bit by simply lightly stoning the actual contact surfaces WITHOUT changing the angles, etc.
And speaking from experience, always load no more than 2 rounds once you try your handiwork. dju |

The Luger trigger is working against three springs and the sear/firing pin engagement surfaces.
The springs are the trigger return spring, the sear bar (flat) spring and the firing pin spring. You MIGHT reduce the pull weight by clipping half a coil from the trigger return spring. You MIGHT reduce the pull weight by slightly bending the sear bar spring to reduce it's tension. NEITHER is a good idea IMO. I wouldn't touch the firing pin spring. IF the let off is smooth and without creep or gritty, then the sear/firing pin surfaces are likely as good as they'll get. IF you decide to polish the sear & firing pin engagement surfaces, use a very hard stone, a good oil and - as mentioned - DO NOT change the angles. Personally, a 3 pound pull is fine and I wouldn't touch a thing. Lugers in general have a long but smooth pull and, once you're used to it, you should be fine. |

If you get the trigger pull too light, there is a good chance that it will "bump fire" at least 2 rounds at a time.......take my word for it!!! I purchased a Luger that had a "bubba trigger job", and it was scary until I fixed it. I will settle for a military type trigger pull on my Lugers.
