Eagle "c" Marked 1940 Banner Info Needed
I may have missed this from an early post but can someone please inform me on the meaning of a Eagle "C" proofmark on a 1940 dated Mauser Banner. Thanks in advance. Rod

Hi Rod,
Welcome to the Lugerforum!! Now - this may seem as a crass "plug" for Mr. Still's excellent publication - which, in fact - it is (buy good books!! I think I may have more books then Lugers, which is OK, too!!!) ...... So - I would encourage you to purchase "Third Reich Lugers" by Mr. Jan Still. On page 146-147, he documents the Police Acceptance Stamps, along with the Eagle C. In that publication - he estimates that Eagle C procurement was 1130 pieces with the 1940 Chamber Date. On Police Banners - you will find the Eagle K, Eagle F, Eagle C and Eagle L . For example, in the thread below - you will see my Eagle L variation.... My Best to you Rod..! John |
