I need help with a P08 slide stop problem

I have my P08 partially disassembled. The slide stop looks like it has come out and has jammed my slide. Can anyone help me, is this something others have seen. I don't know what to do.
It is a 1938 Mauser

Can you see the photos? I think the issue was i had the magazine inserted partially at some point in the slide removal....

The only thing to do at this point is drive the upper receiver forward off the lower. it's possible you are going to break something in the process. Good luck.

Can you remove the take down lever? I wouldn't advise driving it off forward. It's jammed and driving it by force is silly, unproductive, un intuitive and most likely will damage the pistol for no gain. . You have taken out the rear toggle pin prematurely. Can you move the toggle train enough to put it back in? Finesse and patience may be the key to working out this puzzle, not brute force. It got this way without force, see if you can reverse it. A little oil might be in order...

Where is the slide stop engaging? Can you depress the SS from the rear?

There is no slide on a P08, so also no slide stop.

Your L-shaped holdopen should normally lay flat.
It now has a weird angle which suggests either it or its leaf spring are compromised.

Try pulling it out from the rear, or pushing it down.
The take down lever can be pushed out from right to left when it is facing downwards. It may give you some extra wiggle room.

I think the holdopen spring broke and is jamming the upper.
Some wiggling and gentle tapping may do the trick.

Also try pulling the receiver backwards so the holdopen can be manipulated through the magazine well.

Using a small punch, and a light hammer, tap just the hold open forward until it snaps/lowers
back into its cut out.

That should release the jam, but as Vilm said, the small hold open spring may
be broken and also jamming the receiver.

If it still won't move- report back.

Much appreciated. Yes mine is hopelessly out of place and very tightly jammed. I am hesitant to tap it, but maybe I have no choice. the hold back and upper are seized, with no movement possible

Also, the release lever has always been very tough to rotate to remove the side plate. Can this have anything to do with the release of the upper?

This is point you need to get an experienced Luger repair person!
Why force anything that old and valuable?

No, the tight lever / side plate release is not interfering.

The hold open spring can be replaced. It is not a numbered part. The L-shaped holdopen itself is numbered, so getting it out in one piece would be better.

I agree that your HO is out of place. If needed, I have new unnumbered factory HOs &/or springs available. I also do repairs, if necessary. Tom

Try removing your takedown lever as Jerry said. Then work on getting the toggle train back into battery. The pistol was never meant to come apart with the disarray that you currently have. DO NOT pound on anything. If you cannot wiggle it into to place, Box it up and send it to GT or Luger Doc. Fifteen bucks at the post office is way better than a broken part.

So I removed the take down pin, no change.

I cannot put the toggle pin back in place, it misses by a fraction, a thou or two.......

Putting the toggle pin back will not help in any way.

Your only option is to either remove or reseat the L-shaped holdopen. I would try removing it by gently working it out rearwards.

The cheapest and most sensible solution is to send it to GT or Tom Heller.

If I had this issue, I'd douse the contact surfaces in light oil and gently try the various suggestions in the thread. If it wouldn't budge, I'd use my heat gun to warm things a bit.

That you cannot get the toggle pin back in suggests that one side of the barrel extension is being pressed upward. This would be consistent with the hold open or its spring causing the problem, as the longer section of that part rests on the right side of the pistol.

You might name your location, perhaps there is a member nearby who can inspect.

If none of those worked, it would go off to GT or Tom.
