Default 1920 Pw.B.

Hi , I posted this on the Jan C Still forum awhile ago. I received a lot of informative information . It was part of my father's WW2 bring backs. I found out it was part of the " Polizeiwehr Bayern" arsenal .
Where can I find out more on this paramilitary group? or the Bavarian police in general from 1920 to WW2. Please post any information I might have missed . Thank you all in advance.

I've read that 1920 dated lugers are rare.
I'm not familiar with the acceptance stamps on the right side.

Looks nice, to me.

The Bavarian Polizeiwehr was a short lived Police organization that was deemed to be too militaristic by the Allied Occupation Forces. It was only in existence for around a year and a half before it was dissolved and its personnel were absorbed by the local Schutzpolizei. So, pistols with this property marking are relatively rare.

Here is a Sauer pistol that is property marked to the Polizeiwehr.

What I see is a 1920 made (date on receiver), DWM (manufacturer) with acceptance markings on the right and the final proof on the far right.
I like these new made lugers with the dove stamps. The dove stamps were only used for the one year.

It went into police service and would have served in the Weimar years and through the nazi era.

e/ArA4. The y is a mis-identification carried over from Costanzo.
