Default Range report, Finnish Luger

I took this gun out today to check for functioning

with a new breechblock from SARCO and an extractor

I just received from Tom Heller. Mr Heller's service was prompt and courtous.

This SA marked pistol is the one I mentioned on the board

about two weeks ago with the 4 3/4" 9mm barrel.

The gun is missmatched and black parkerized, due to

one or more re-builds by the Finns.

The original breechblock has a badly worn holdopen notch

and the firing pin retainer notch is badly peened.

I was pleased to be able to get a new breechblock

(before I found this board). The SARCO breechblock required some light fitting, but the orginal extractor would not work with the new breechblock. I didn't want to modify it for fear of winding up with an extractor that did not work with

either breechblock.

The function tests were a success, five full magazines

without failure.

I was afraid this pistol would have to be retired, now

I'm looked forward to shooting it for many more years.
