Post 1921/1920 Police Re-work

I picked this re-work up at the Reno show. Did'nt know much about it, but price seemed right and it was interesting. Has armorer repaired holster and period rod. Approx. 90% overall. All matching except, correct police mag. Re-worked for magazine safety.
I received a valued assist, from three of the forums breathing "Luger Encyclopedias" Russ,Pete and Dwight. Thanks guys, I appreciate the straight forward information,and the help. I enjoyed meeting you all, and hope the the feeling is mutual. Hope to see you again. And hope to meet some of the other members next year.

Ron

Ron, Indeed an interesting police rig. One comment on the brass large loop cleaning rod, that I can't judge from your photos: If the top end of the loop is rounded, it's original; If it's cut off square, it's probably one of Sarco's repros. TH

Tom, It's as round as a baby's bottom. The rod is actually, steel w/ brass tip. Russ checked out the whole rig for me before I bought it. He assured me ,it is all correct. Thanks for the heads-up. I want to learn all I can for future reference.

Ron, nice clean looking police rework. It shows honest use and not abuse. These are the kind of Luger's that I like. I could not make the Reno show this time, but my hotel reservations are made for the November show. I did get to the Portland Rose City Gun Collectors show on April 23rd. As usual I was disappointed with the show. There was lots of flashlights, beanie babies, beef jerkey, etc, and oh yes some guns. On Friday I only saw a few Lugers, and none were very exciting. At one time the show was advertised as having 1000 tables. I do not believe that it is 1000 tables any more, as it looks smaller. Even with less tables there were still a lot of empty ones. It would sure be great if the Portland show was run by the same people that put on the Reno show. I keep hoping that our Portland show will get better, but the sad truth is that it has gone the other way the past few years.

Scott, The last Portland show I went to was several years ago. I vowed never to go again. I bought a set of reloading dies. The guy put them in a paper bag. As I was walking out the door, some slob of a Rent-A-Cop literally grabbed me by the arm and demanded to see what I had. Before I could even say anything he yanked the bag out of my hand. I was just getting ready to pop him in the mouth when one of the people putting on the show jumped between us. He handed the bag back to me and apologized. I told him that was the last damn time I would ever go to one of their shows. Never been back. I agree, we need someone with some class to sponsor a good show.
I lucked out at Reno,when I found this one.

Ron, I attend the Reno Show every November. I always find something nice to bring home at a fair price. I cannot remember the last time I purchased a firearm at the Portland show. Most of the firearms seem overpriced for their condition and the dealers won't negotiate. I never see a lot of used gun purchases at the Portland show, but I do see a lot of deals happening at Reno. For some reason the whole atmosphere at the Reno show is much more positive. Hopefully things will improve someday here in Portland.

Scott , Yeah, I hope so! I made three buys at Reno. I made reasonable offers on all three, and they accepted. Kind of suprised me to tell the truth. First Reno show I've been to. We have the Willamette Valley Arms show here.Twice a year. Usually not bad shows. Man, it's like pulling teeth to deal with half these guys. I think that's what screwed up both ours and Portlands this year. I hear they had to reschedule the Portland show. And it was scheduled for the same weekend.

Scott
I quit doing the Portland show because of all the CRAP that the promoter lets in there. <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[offtopic]" title="" src="graemlins/offtopic.gif" /> I will never go back to set up. I might walk threw just to see if there is anything there.

Ron
I enjoyed our visit I will let you know the next time I am in your neck of the woods.

Russ, If I failed to personally, thank you for your help. I will do so now. Thankyou for being up front in helping with my buy, and all of the advice. Ed said you could be trusted. He was right. Hope to see you again soon.
Oh, BTW, You can't imagine the envy I feel about the 1906 Navy, you nailed. My other dream pistol. Glad you got it. Now I know where I can find it.;-}

Russ, unless things change at our Portland show I'm afraid it will keep slipping away little by little. Our show does not attract any of the top notch dealers that attend the Reno Show. On the other hand the Reno Show gets stronger and stronger each year. I am pleased to hear that so many Luger Forum members found nice things to bring home. I am very much looking forward to my next visit to the Reno Show. I always find something nice to bring home!
