Go to www.simpson.com and look at what he is offering, see how it compares to the one you are looking at, also try Auction Arms and see what is offered there and the prices.

If you buy it, please update the forum on how you made out, and post photos please.

Ballistic, The 5 digit serial number given above would be for a grip safety M1906 luger. I persume that you meant the last digit to be a letter "o" rather than a zero. TH

I took the number from the Estate Appraiser list. I will have to visually examine the pistol to make certain. But the letter "o" makes sense to me.
Won't be able to view the item until next week.
Will get back with the correct #.
Thank you.

I need some help. I have a commercial DWM luger and I would like to know the manufacturing year of it. In the "all 08 military lugers" section under the name "What is this" are some pics of it. I would be very glad if someone regonizes it and answers to me.

Hello forum friends.
Here are the markings I found on the Luger in question. What do I have??
No date stamp, GERMANY stamped on barrel and GERMANY under SN4292, the letter a under SN on frame.
Crown with leter N under on left side of frame and also on left side of toggle linkage.
GESICHERT stamped at safety area. DWM on top of toggle and 92 stamped at reat of safety.
Cannot find any other markings, however, the safety, trigger, take-down pin and metal piece on right side of slide is straw colored. Remaining areas are blued, magazine has no marks.
Pistol is in excellent condition. Seller had gun appraised and appraiser said it is a 1920 Commercial. Is this true? And what would you put the value of it with the description given?
Thank you,
Mike

With one exception everything points to a 1920 (or Alphabet) Commercial. The exception is the letter "a" which is not correct for a 1920. Could it be an "o"?

The other possibility is a re-worked military pistol but the military date, serial number and inspection stamps/proofs would have been removed from the receiver and I don't think that's the case if the sideplate and locking bolt aren't serial numbered on the exposed side. The number "92" is likely to be found under those two parts, further indicating a 1920 Commercial.

It is the letter 'O'. I compared it with the tech info in this forum.
As mentioned the pistol is in very good to excellent condition.

Ballpark value is appreciated.

Thank again,
Mike
