.22 lugers

What is the story on .22 lugers. Are they manufactured that way or are they a conversion. Do they have value? Are they even fun to shoot? Am I completely ignorant on lugers, or just mostly?

The Erma .22's are a copy and not the same action as Luger.

The .22 conversion units are an add on and come off and go on without realy chanigng the gun. (correct guys, I am going by memory and pictures only).

What you said is true Ed, the .22 caliber Lugers were made by Erma post war and are blowback pistols that look like a Luger... not real Lugers.

Manufactured conversion kits do not permanently modify a Luger and can be installed temporarily for practice with .22 LR ammo. These were produced both during wartime and post-war.

There have been a few strictly custom .22 caliber conversions done to real Lugers by some gunsmiths such as this fine example in the Lugerforum Owner's Gallery from the collection of Patrick Villiers. I believe I remember that this one was done by the Lugersmith named Werle in Germany, but I am not certain about that fact.
