Two different BAXVII marks

Wanted to show die stamped and ink stamped marks for comparison. Both are on 1916 holsters by different makers. Comments?

I have never encountered BAX in any form except ink stamped.

This is a first for me too. The die stamped holster is in excellent condition and was picked up from a dealer who gaurantees originality. I have never had a problem returning an item I questioned. I hate to return a holster that looks correct except for the BAXVII die stamp. It smells and looks all original and excellent workmanship throughout. If a repro it is the best I've seen. Why go through the trouble to make a die when an ink stamp is simple to make?

I agree with your assessment; based on the relative rarity of the maker and the hithertofore unseen die stamped BAX, I tend to suspect the holster is bogus. Would be curious as to who the dealer is.

Don't mean to disagree with anyone, but on page 57 of Imperial Lugers there is a B.A. XV 1910 stamped, not inked. A friend of mine when I asked said that he has seen a couple of stamped, not inked markings.

I believe he is a forum member but in fairness, I believe if the consensus was that the holster is incorrect he would refund the purchase price without a problem. Here is a picture of both holsters side by side.

I have a black PERINA & CO, 1916, DRESDEN holster with BAXI die stamped on inner cover.
