Luger carry holster

Can anyone help me with finding a modern carry holster? I need one for action pistol matches so it must fast to draw and the trigger must be covered. I also would like find a shoulder holster like the one posted in the March 02 centerfold. Thanks, Dan

D. Russ, i'm glad i'm not the only one thats been wondering this. unfortunately i don't know of anything modern to carry, but i would be interested in a shoulder or hip rig myself.

Although they don't fit really well, the 4 inch shoulder (auto) rigs fit a Luger, made by Safari or Bianchi.

There are so many manufactures out there, that I imagine there must be shoulder or inside the pants carry holsters designed for a Luger?

You could always have one made special, my friend Jerry has made a couple of them.

I like the 45 Tanker type holster, if fits a Luger or P.38 pretty well and I got mine NEW Conditon at a gun show for $20. Dont use a SPRING TYPE like Bianchis X-15, it can grab the toggle knobs and open the action during the draw

It is a holster that was made for tankers. Sounds flip I know, I never liked them, they are a bit loose fitting, and besides tankers always wore them. You see them on e-bay off and on. There are two right now, use tanker holster as your search words, there might be more with different search words.

The tanker holster I am carrying my P.38 in today has a open bottom. It is exactly like Ed's except has a different shoulder strap but it is in tan color.

I had one of these holsters for several of my guns a couple of decades ago... They were good serviceable holsters... but not designed for concealed carry. For field or trail use they were great.

I used to have a 1970's Mauser Luger in 9mm. I carried it in an inside-the-pants-holster originally made for a Colt Python .357 with 4" barrel. Worked well. With shirt over it was completely concealed.

Attached photo is of a Luger Shoulder Holster I made for Ellie this Spring. Modified original Jerry Peters sent me as a pattern, so that this one held two magazines. Then, I made one for myself, again slightly modified for range shooting.

One thing to try is a holster made for the Ruger .22cal auto pistol. A Luger will work in most of them and they come for most barrel lengths.

I have several different patterns, some with spare mag pouch & some without, of original WW2 shoulder holsters for the luger &/or P38 @$75 each. Sorry no photos, but satisfaction guaranteed. TH

Thanks for all the help. I ended up getting a holster made at El Paso Saddlery it's a work of art. They also made me a dual mag pouch to match. These people do great work and you can see some of it at their web site. I'll post a pic. Dan

Fellows, I have several new-in-the-box US Air Force issue black leather shoulder holsters in which a 4" barrel Luger fits beautifully. The holsters were made for the 4" bbl Model 15 S&W Combat Masterpiece revolver that Air Force Security Police were issued prior to the M-9. D.Russ, I have to agree with you on El Paso Saddlery's work-I use one of their's as well; I had mine lined, which I believe was a little extra, but does a nice job of protecting the finish-but Jerry is tempting me with his shoulder rig....

I discovered one day that one of the holsters used to carry 1911 type autos will also service well with a Luger. It's what some call a "Belt Slide" or "Bikini" holster. Mine is made by Galco International of Phoenix Arizona. The gun will sit in the holster vertically (no cant), the trigger is covered completely, there are 2 screws to adjust the tension (retention of the handgun). Mine is marked - YAQ212B. It may be serviceable for your use. Cost is reasonable.

Often if you find a holster that is close in size and shape you can form fit it. Soak the holster in water place you gun in a platic bag and then insert it into the holster, let it dry in the sun or other warm area. As it drys the leather will shrink to the shape of the gun.
