Vlim,
No I was not of that. My apologies, I meant no slight. I just know Mauro often advertises the Mauser Parabellum certification service on the forum.

I thought that the Renato Gamba deserved a better box than the brown shipping carton it came in.
I found a beaten old, but original, Mauser Parabellum presentation case that had been gutted. With some TLC applied, it's now the appropriate home for our Italian P.08. |

The auction is closing soon-
I was wondering if the grips are from Mauser or Interarms or an aftermarket company grip made for real P08 pistols? (see link to similar grips by Altamont below) The last time I checked Mauser Parabellum Swiss or P08 style OEM NOS grips are not available, right? Thank you, Joe https://www.altamontco.com/pistol-grips/luger/luger |

The post war Mauser Parabellum grips differ from the original ones, they also need space for the grip safety.
I'm not aware of a commercial outfit that makes reproductions for the post war Mauser Parabellum. |

The auction closed and the pistol sold for $1430, 30 bids total.
In my opinion that is a fairly steep price considering the grips are not original, the felt in the wood box has been replaced and so much is missing like the test target and manual. Regarding the wood box, were those sent in addition to the regular box (with the styrofoam insert) or instead of the regular box? For what its worth I would add that in P08 style pistols the 4" barrel is far less common than the 6" version-perhaps only 1 in 4 of the P08 style pistols I've seen have the 4" barrel. One last thing on these Mauser Parabellums-has anyone got any regular production (not commemorative) .30 caliber pistols with 5" barrels? All but 3 I've ever seen have the 6" barrels. |

Aren't you mixing up a few guns?
The one at auction has factory grips and a factory styrofoam box? The wooden box was sold as an optional extra. 5" is the Swiss lenght and Mauser hardly used it. Most are, as you observed, 4" and 6". |

My apologies, you are right, I'm trying to juggle too much stuff right now, apologies.
The gun I just mentioned selling for $1430 is not the RG in this thread, but a wood boxed P08 style with white grips, really sorry. A link to that closed sale follows this email. Regarding the 5" (12CM) length on standard production .30 cal pistols I do have 3 and will post photos of them in a new post later. Two are Swiss and one of those has a P08 style safety, the third is a P08 frame last production from 1985 with 1900 style toggle. (Seeking a green hang tag for it!) Looking forward to seeing the 5" versions as they are not that common.

I will post some photos of my 5" pistols under the Postwar section soon.
Regarding the Luger in this thread-RG 0311-it brought $1200. Also, Simpson just sold RG 0179 for $2195. Best Wishes, Joe https://www.gunbroker.com/item/868017296 https://simpsonltd.com/mauser-renato...-cased-z44763/ |
